Gearing Up for a Successful Season
Check out these tips to help your young athlete start the season feeling confident, organized, and ready to rip.
1. Make Sure Gear Fits
One wrinkle can ruin the day, especially in ski boots! Before the season starts, check that all gear fits properly, from head to toe. Take a cue from Goldilocks: not too big, not too small, but just right.
2. Practice Suiting Up
Have kids try on their base layers, socks, snow pants, and jackets a few times before hitting the slopes, why not even gamify it and see who can do it the fastest? Practice putting on boots with smooth socks (no wrinkles!) and let them walk around indoors. A few laps in ski boots can make the first day feel much easier.

3. Check Gear Safety
Kids grow fast and often last year’s gear may not fit or function properly. Don’t forget to visit your local ski shop to adjust bindings and confirm everything is safe. Heads grow too, so don’t forget about their helmets! A safe, comfortable athlete is a happy athlete.
4. Label Everything
Mark skis, boards, and boots with a name or initials. A sticker or permanent marker can save time and stress when finding gear after lunch or at the day’s end.
